Memorial Concert for Noel Mander MBE FSA

May 2006

Noel Mander, the first patron of the East Anglian Academy of Organ and Early Keyboard Music, will be remembered in a memorial concert organised by the Academy, to be given at St Michael's Church in Framlingham, Suffolk, on Saturday 17 June 2006 at 8.00pm, by organist Malcolm Russell. The programme for this tribute to the founder of Mander Organs will include English music from the 17th and 18th centuries (a period of organ music that was very dear to him). There will be masterworks by Bach and Mendelssohn and - a reference to Noel's distant Dutch ancestor, Karel van Mander - Sweelinck's variations on "My young life has an end". Tickets: £12 (concessions £5).

The Academy acknowledges the support of Bishop and Son, organ builders, for this memorial concert.

A memorial service for Noel Mander is being planned for later on in the year in London as well, and details of that will appear on this web site in due course.
